Calculate the perimeter of a kite if the length of its longer side is 15cm and the length of its shorter side is 11cm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-vivid-purple-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">To solve the task from example number one, it is enough to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-vivid-purple-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">a) Calculate the sum of the lengths of all four sides. The measurements are: in two places the longer side and in two places the shorter side: L=15cm+11cm+15cm+11cm<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-vivid-purple-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">b) To calculate a sum of two different doublings of the values of the longer and shorter sides of the kite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-vivid-purple-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">The perimeter is 52 centimeters!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Kite area<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We can calculate the area of the kite using the Heron formula as with any other <a href=\"https:\/\/www.matematikazavsicki.com\/en\/quadrilateral-without-parallel-sides\/\">quadrilateral without parallel sides<\/a> (see example solved problem by clicking on the link). The only difference is that the area of this 2D figure with Heron&#8217;s formula where the longer diagonal is known is easier to calculate because in that situation the kite is a combination of two identical triangles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to the standard solution method, the area is available using the formula:<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.matematikazavsicki.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Formula-for-the-area-of-kite.jpg\" alt=\"Formula for the area of deltoid\" class=\"wp-image-898\" width=\"250\" height=\"144\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.matematikazavsicki.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Formula-for-the-area-of-kite.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.matematikazavsicki.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Formula-for-the-area-of-kite-300x173.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of course, to use the formula directly, the length of the two diagonals needs to be available. If their length is available, the area can be easily available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-vivid-purple-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">Example number 2: Calculate the area of a kite if the lengths of its diagonals are 3 cm and 16 cm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-vivid-purple-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">To determine the area, it is enough:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To determine the product of the diagonals.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Divide the product of the diagonals by 2.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-vivid-purple-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">The area from example number two is 24 square centimeters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The diagonals of this 2D shape always have different lengths. They intersect each other at a right angle (90-degree angle).
