Calculate the perimeter of a rectangle if the length of its longer side is 5cm and the length of its shorter side is 3cm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-vivid-purple-color has-text-color\">To solve the task from example number one, it is enough to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-vivid-purple-color has-text-color\">a) Calculate the sum of the lengths of all four sides. The collections are: in two places the longer side and in two places the shorter side: L=5cm+3cm+5cm+3cm<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-vivid-purple-color has-text-color\">b) To calculate a sum of two different doublings of the values of the longer and shorter side of the shape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-vivid-purple-color has-text-color\">The perimeter is 16 centimeters!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Area of a rectangle<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The formula for calculating the area of a rectangle is:<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.matematikazavsicki.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Formula-for-the-area-of-a-rectangle.jpg\" alt=\"Formula for the area of a rectangle\" class=\"wp-image-520\" width=\"125\" height=\"42\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.matematikazavsicki.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Formula-for-the-area-of-a-rectangle.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.matematikazavsicki.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/Formula-for-the-area-of-a-rectangle-300x101.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 125px) 100vw, 125px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-vivid-purple-color has-text-color\">Example number 2. Calculate the area of a rectangle if the length of its longer side is 5cm and the length of its shorter side is 3cm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-vivid-purple-color has-text-color\">To calculate the area of the shape, it is enough to calculate the product of the lengths of its sides (the shorter one with the longer one).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-vivid-purple-color has-text-color\">The area is 15 square centimeters!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Formulas for calculating the perimeter and area of a rectangle are an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gymglish.com\/en\/gymglish\/english-translation\/be-an-integral-part-of\">integral part<\/a> of tasks in which you need to calculate the perimeter and area of complex figures. Also, formulas are used as part of a task to calculate the area of certain geometric bodies that have a side or more sides that have the shape of a rectangle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Perimeter and area are directly proportional to the lengths of the sides of the rectangle. The bigger the sides of the rectangle, the bigger its area and perimeter!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A rectangle has two diagonals of equal length same as a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.matematikazavsicki.com\/en\/square\/\">square<\/a>. The two diagonals are cut exactly in half and form two equal angles.
