How do you solve short problems with the multiplication of integers? Here you can learn the rules for multiplying integers, as well as many examples with solutions. In general, the most mistakes when multiplying whole numbers are made with the + and – signs. It is usually easy to make mistakes precisely with the conclusion of which sign (+ or -) should have the product of integers (positive and negative integers).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rules for multiplication of integers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

When multiplying integers, we should pay attention to the following steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. We conclude the sign that the product should have. In doing so, we pay attention to the following rules: a) If both multipliers have + signs, then the product also has a + sign. b) If both multipliers have – signs, then the product has a + sign. c) If the two multipliers have different signs (one of them has a + sign, and the second has a – sign, or vice versa), then the product has a – sign.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. We multiply the numbers as if they were natural numbers.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    As can be understood from the rules, we get the numerical value of the product in the same way as the product of natural numbers (we imagine that integers have no signs), while we pay attention to the sign of the product (if the exponents have the same signs, then the product has a sign +, while if the multipliers have different signs, then the product has a sign -).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The numbers (+6) and (+4) have the same signs, so we conclude that the product will have a + sign. The product of 6 and 4 is 24, so we get the final calculation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
